1 Dress- 3 Ways

I've seen a lot of posts on other blogs lately about taking one piece of clothing in your closet and mixing it up with different pieces to make it look totally different. I don't have a ton of clothes, so I thought maybe I would try this with some things in my closet to get the most use out of every piece as possible.

Today's item: A little black dress from Old Navy
I got this dress a few months a go to wear to a wedding. It only cost me like 75 cents (long story)!

It's not my favorite dress in the world on its own. I don't usually wear sleeveless things, it's too short, and the neckline is lower than I'd like. But with a little layering, I think I can learn to love this dress a little more!

Look #1- Girly Girl!!!

For this outfit, I basically used the dress as a skirt.

I put a black tank top from Target on top of the dress, and a pair of cropped leggings from Walmart underneath. The pink, ruffly, polka-dot top was on clearance at Rue 21, and the sandals are from Old Navy (part of my 75 cent dress purchase-again-long story!!)

I like this one because I feel so GIRLY in it! And yet I would still feel comfy enough to wear it to school!

Look #2
A Night On the Town

For this look, I used the dress as like a longer, fancy top. I paired it with my black Old Navy Rockstar skinny jeans, a white lacy tank top from Kmart, and a damask print cardigan I got on clearance at Maurice's. I decided to put on my silver sparkly flats with it- I've had these a LONG time and have no idea where they're from- maybe Payless???

This would be a great outfit to wear on a date with my wonderful husband. I definitely think it would be good for when we go to the movies because I wouldn't get cold!! There are a lot of layers to this outfit so I may not wear it like this until fall.

Look #3
A Pop-a-Cullah! (Pop of Color)

This time I wore the dress just as I would almost any other dress. I put a blue floral tank top from Kmart underneath, a red Forever 21 cardigan over the top, and then just added the same sandals and cropped leggings from outfit #1.

This is DEFINITELY an everyday outfit, for school, going out to lunch with a friend, or just running errands. I think this outfit is the most youthful of the three.

So what do you think? How did I do? Which is your favorite?

I think I'll do more posts like this in the future. It was lots of fun, and it helps me to put together outfits that I never would otherwise!!!

Thanks to my husband for taking all the photos! <3
